This month kicks off the session when I like to start hiking. I thought I would share with you some of the meals I’ve done on the trail this month. As I do, I will give you some of my thoughts on that type of meal preparation. If you have any questions about backpacking meals, leave them in the comments bellow.
This week we take a look at another meal I made on the Foothills Trail. In this case I was not very familiar with dehydrated meals. Everything I took with me was from a grocery store. After looking around this is one of the dinners I came up with. I did not have any cooking gear yet. I used the camp fire and a small replacement grill grate to cook dinner.
For this meal I like to buy a steak that is in vacuum seal packaging. I freeze the steak and burry it in my pack so it will thaw out slowly through the day. I don’t know if I would do this mid summer but in cooler weather it’s a lot of fun.
