I make the trip to Vermont for some winter camping in a cave in Vermont with Zach Fowler and Alex Peric. We also do some ice fishing and wild food cooking. We will make an outdoor fire to cook on using dry hardwoods and catch our own food, in catch and cook style. Just because we don’t have a tent, doesn’t mean we need to suffer. We make a survival shelter from some pine cuttings we find nearby. My Gear (Shop and Support):
The trick to winter cold camping in a cave is to have some place dry enough to set up. Our cots are a big help here, but Zach sets up using his hammock.
We use icefishing tip-ups, jaw jackers and live minnows to catch panfish, small mouth bass, perch, crappie, and whatever else dares bit our lines!
